Park in the fall (Winter?)

Emma and I walked two miles (I know..I'm a baby.) to the park. It was perfect weather when we got there but after the sun went down it was freezing! Luckily my mom came and picked us up!

Those birds kept coming closer to us! I was so scared!

Motherhood

Oh motherhood. I would be lying if I said that being a mother didn't change me. That sounds so dramatic, but it's definitely true. Little Emma is the best thing to ever happen to me and I am daily thanking Heavenly Father for her and for allowing me to be her mother. I feel so incredibly lucky and blessed! Although some may think I was crazy for having a baby at 21, I am so glad I did because I've always wanted to be a young mom.

From this amazing talk by Neil L. Andersen he said, "As we look into the eyes of a child, we see a fellow son or daughter of God who stood with us in the premortal life. It is a crowning privilege of a husband and wife who are able to bear children to provide mortal bodies for these spirit children of God. We believe in families, and we believe in children." I feel so blessed that Heavenly Father chose me to care for one of his beautiful children. I also get scared that he trusted me with such a precious child! I know through him I can raise her (and my future children) how he would want me to. Mark 9:37 : "Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me."

In Neil L. Andersen's talk he quoted a woman's blog about motherhood. It's a great article - read it here. Her name is Rachel Jankovic and she said, Motherhood is not a hobby, it is a calling. You do not collect children because you find them cuter than stamps. It is not something to do if you can squeeze the time in. It is what God gave you time for." I absolutely love this quote.
I found this article of "One-Line Affirmations For Moms". My favorite is "I have been called to motherhood—the most powerful calling in the world." It is close to the above quote but I love it because it says it is the most "powerful" calling which I truly believe because mothers have such an impact on this world. I also love the "one-liner" that says "I may not be the perfect mother, but I am exactly the mother my children need." I hope to be a great mother to my children. Again, I feel so incredibly blessed to be chosen to be a mother and I am so grateful that it is my calling in life.

Oh snap. Look at that handsome fellow. I'm giving you a chance to turn back.. get off this blog.. because it is about to become cheesy up in here.

Oh Trevor, Trevor, Trevor. How did I get so incredibly blessed to get such a great guy like Trevor? I must have done something right in this life. If you would have told me about 7 years ago that I would end up with Trevor Thompson, I would laugh in your face. That would never happen! I never would have thought this was how my life ended up, but boy am I glad it did!

Trevor is one of the most selfless people I have ever known. He has the biggest heart and is always helping someone, anyone! I seriously wish I had a heart like him. He is the best husband and dad! I love to watch him and Emma interact with each other. You can tell there is just so much love between them. I seriously fell in love with him all over again when I saw him with Emma for the first time. He reminds me so much of my dad, and I know that's why I love him so much!

I'm just so incredibly grateful to have a husband like Trevor, and I'm even more grateful that I get to spend all eternity with him! I love you, Trevor! I'd marry you all over again!

P.S. Here are some posts with Trevor from my old blog!

Family Photos!

We got our family photos done by the amazing Jostlyn Stilson of We Are Roz. I absolutely love these and I'm so grateful she captured this wonderful time in our lives; the start of our family!

(I put these in a collage myself and my computer cropped some of them weird.. so just know that it was me and the weird cropping doesn't reflect her work!)

5 months!

Holy cow.. Emmylou is 5 months old! Stahp! I keep looking at her and thinking how big she looks. The doctor said she is still pretty small for her age but she looks so big to me! She has gained exactly 8 pounds since she was born! It's crazy to think that over 5 months ago she was still inside my belly and basically a part of me. I do miss that but she is SO much more fun outside. :) Speaking of fun.. she is at the age now where she is super playful and super smiley. She smiles at pretty much anyone who talks to her. She has always been a great sleeper but lately she has NOT. I read somewhere before this happened that a lot of babies do this around 4 or 5 months.. so I'm pretty much back to getting her on the PDF schedule.. (Read Babywise!). Although she is ruining my sleep schedule, I sure do love her! Poor girl has been sick.. hope she gets better soon so I can have my fun loving baby back!

I had to take pictures of Emma in her Halloween costume! Our cute little ballerina! So i just went along with the Halloween theme..

This month Emma..
  • scrunches up her face and sniffs really fast.. so funny!
  • loves sleeping by her mama, but I only let that happen in the morning. It's too scary!
  • sucks on her bottom lip.
  • yells at us.. not a cry..  a yell.
  • has uncontrollable hands! When she is nursing she is constantly pinching my neck and going all over the place.
  • sticks her hands in her mouth.
  • chews on her feet.
  • eats rice cereal.
  • sits up so well!
  • laughs and smiles so easily!
