Hello! My goodness these past few weeks have been so incredibly hectic but so amazing! Surprise! We moved to Kansas! We live outside of Kansas City. Really close to the border of Missouri. Let me start from the beginning..
Some things didn't work out like we planned and our friends were moving to Kansas for summer sales. They had asked us to go last year with them to Texas but we just had Emma and it just wouldn't have worked out. So here we were this year with no plan, things not working out, and so bored with our lives. Randomly Trevor says "Lets go to Missouri and do summer sales with our friends." Usually I say NO to spontaneity but for some reason I had a good feeling come over me and I said I would consider it. Over the next few days we needed to give our friends an answer. We did a lot of praying but I was still so unsure of what we were supposed to do. So we fasted. I had anxiety the whole day about everything and when I ended my fast I asked Heavenly Father to let me feel peace if this was the right decision for us and right when I ended my prayer a wave of comfort came over me! I was so amazed at the power of prayer and fasting that I knew that we were supposed to go to Kansas.
So just a couple of weeks later we put our affairs in order, packed up, and drove to Kansas! I think a lot of people doubted that I could do this.. I'm afraid of everything and especially tornadoes (why did I move to tornado alley!?). But I love change. Good change. I was so excited to get out of Utah for awhile and experience new places and grow! Even if we end up coming back to Utah for good, I'm so glad we were able to move away and go on this amazing adventure!
Sunday at 5 in the morning we hit the road! (Lets not even talk about the goodbye's to my parents. It was seriously the hardest goodbye!) Trevor really wanted to go see where he grew up so we decided to go a slightly different way. All part of the adventure!
We went through Las Vegas to get to Kingman, AZ where Trevor was born and drove around while Trevor pointed out places he lived and went to school. I'll admit it (and Trevor will back me up) that Kingman is uuugly. Yikes.
On our way to Kingman
My camera did not do these beautiful mountains justice! I love the different layers and shades!

This was probably the prettiest spot in Kingman. I remember Trevor telling me when we were dating about this random train he used to play on in the town he grew up. It was so fun to go see where little Trevor roamed around! We played around at this little park and let Emma run around. Across the street we had breakfast at a 50's style diner.
By the way I should mention.. Our car was SO packed and poor little Emma was right in the middle of it. (Don't worry we made sure everything was safe around her in case of an accident.) She did so well and slept most of the way!
We traveled on and through the rest of Arizona. Once we hit Flagstaff, AZ the clouds rolled in and got really cold and rainy. There was even snow on the ground!
Flagstaff, AZ
Then clear up until the border of Arkansas it was bad weather and some of the worst rainfall I've ever seen! It was so intense the whole time. Trevor and I couldn't relax for a second! I was a nervous wreck the whole time and constantly scoping out the skies for tornadoes! AH! Luckily there weren't any.
The first night we stopped in Albequerque, NM for the night at a ghetttto La Quinta. It was so bad. How did we make it out of there and not get anything stolen!? I was so scared.
We saw a lot of ugly places like this. Look at the downpour!
That morning we set off about 6 and traveled on through Texas, Oklahoma, and to Arkansas! The rain was the worst in Texas and Oklahoma. This is basically all we saw from Texas to the border of Arkansas:
Seriously..
It was so dark and this was taken during midday! Trevor was the best driver!
Finally in Arkansas the Heavens opened up and let the glorious sun shine through! We stayed in Arkansas with my brother and his family from Monday to Friday. Then on Friday morning we drove 3 hours to good old Kansas City! The area we live in is super super nice and much to my enjoyment a lot of the communities are British names! Like Nottingham, Yorkshire, and there is even and England St! I love it here and our apartment is so nice! I'm just in love! I'm so glad we made it here safely and I know our Heavenly Father was with us every step of the way! Could NOT have done this without Him!
I'm so glad you guys made it safe! Thank goodness you were on tornado watch! I'm jealous of your adventures already!!
