New In Life

I realized that my blog has become mostly centered around my daughters, and that's fine but, I figured I needed to add more posts about what else is going on in ours lives. I don't want to forget moments that Trevor and I are experiencing as well. So basically I'm just going to drop a bunch of random things going on in our lives, or things I'm liking, or even books or movies that I'm enjoying. So here goes!

LIFE EVENTS

Air Force :
One major thing going on in our lives is that Trevor joined the Air Force Reserves! It has been something we have been talking and praying about for a long time. I've always been super against it (because I'm scared okay!) but I decided to give Trevor a chance and pray about it. I was secretly hoping I would get a bad feeling about it but I just never did! I just kept getting the answer that this was supposed to happen, that it would be good for our family. Trevor originally wanted to enlist as Active Duty but we came to some compromise by only doing the Reserves. For now anyway.

So, Trevor took the ASVAB (and did fairly well on it, might I add), filled out a ton of paper work (Okay yes, it was me who did it all. You're welcome Trevor), and took some physical tests. Then on July 31st my dad, the girls, Trev, and I drove down to Las Vegas and he was sworn in!

When we got onto Nellis AFB I totally got a confirmation that this was what we were supposed to be doing. It was pretty cool being on base. We were driving throughout the base on our way out and we stopped at a stop sign behind someone and they just stopped and wouldn't go. We were wondering what was going on so Trevor rolled down the window to poke his head out of the window to see what was going on and we hear the National Anthem playing through loud speakers. We then looked around and saw that all the cars were stopped down the streets. I guess everyone stops in their cars and the soldiers stop what they are doing and listen to it. So cool.

We don't have a date for when Trevor leaves for Basic Training. He goes to Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. He will most likely be leaving in October or November. He will be gone for 8 weeks and we will only be able to write letters. Its going to be so hard. Ahh. Then he goes somewhere else for further training for about 3 weeks, but we will be able to FaceTime so that will be so much better. The girls and I will be moving into my parent's house for that time. Thank goodness for them. I'm so proud of Trevor and I know he will be successful in the military. I'm just going to miss him!

FAMILY & FRIENDS

Grandma Peck :
My sweet Grandma Peck passed away in July. She was such an amazing grandma and you always felt extremely loved by her. I miss her so much. Her funeral was really amazing. It was so great to see all of my family together. Its sad under the circumstances but it was still really good to see everyone. My dad spoke at her funeral and he said in his talk that her tendency to always worry passed down to me and boy did it ever! I worry all the time and everyone always told me that I got that from her. I love her so much.

Emma :
Emma is getting so big! She is the best big sister and is so sweet. She is seriously always happy and easy going!

Laura :
My best friend Laura is getting married (I'm not crying, you're crying) in October! I was able to go try on wedding dresses with her this past week and she is going to make the most beautiful bride ever! I'm so excited for her and Jake!

Trevor's Family :
Trevor's mom, dad, and nephew Trystin came to St. George a few weeks ago and it was so nice seeing them! We went swimming and went to Olive Garden (Of course..). Emma loved playing with Trystin and always called him "buddy"! So funny.

ENTERTAINMENT

KonMari Method :
I finally got The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo and I am looooving it. It's essentially a book about discarding crap you don't need. I was first introduced to the KonMari Method at the end of 2015.

Let me give some backstory.. Trevor and I accumulated a lot of stuff the first couple years of our marriage. Not an obscene amount but too much for the two of us. We got a lot of hand-me-downs and we loved thrift stores. Who doesn't like a good bargain, right? Well when we moved to Kansas City for the summer we brought with us whatever we could fit into our car. So we didn't have much at all and it was so nice! I seriously loved it. I was able to keep the house clean so much better! So when we moved to Arkansas and got the rest of our stuff back from Utah I got rid of so much stuff. It felt amazing! Then I came across the KonMari method on youtube or something in 2015 and I researched it a lot (without actually reading the book..) and I implemented the method into my life and got rid of a lot more stuff. I was in love!

Since we moved into our current place I got rid of more stuff because it's so tiny. Then I started reading the book and realized there is so much more to the book than I even realized! So I am able to let go of even more stuff now! I can't tell you how great it is to not be overwhelmed with stuff. I would seriously get rid of more if Trevor would let me haha! I still have a couple more areas I want to really implement the method on!

Dunkirk :
Okay wow. I asked my dad to go to Dunkirk with me when it first came out and I am obsessed! I first heard about the rescue at Dunkirk while watching a documentary called Great British Castles and it had a little piece about it. I thought it was super interesting so when I first heard about the movie I was so excited to go see it! I seriously could not stop thinking and talking about it so Trevor took me on a date to see it again last week! Christopher Nolan is just a genius director. I love the plot and how he sets up the timing of it. Ahh so good. I'm definitely buying it when it comes out.

Wimbledon :
It is always a summer tradition to watch Wimbledon. I love watching tennis but I never follow tournaments as much as I follow Wimbledon. There is something so special about it. My homeboy Roger Federer won! I love him. He's so fun to watch!

WHAT I'M LOVING

The Ordinary :
I love skincare. I love make-up but I looove skincare. I really got into it when I was living in Arkansas and struggling with my skin. I've always had really good skin as far as acne goes but while I was in Kansas and Arkansas my skin was terrible. I think it had to do with stress and humidity.

I finally got to a good place with my skin as far as clearing it up. Another thing my skin really struggled with was being dehydrated. I was so dry and flaky. I follow a skincare blogger called Caroline Hirons and she is the skincare QUEEN! I also love Nadine Baggott. I've learned so much from them and they both talked about an affordable skincare brand called The Ordinary from Deciem. So I bought some products from them and it has helped hydrate my skin so much! I am obsessed. I love the bottles it comes in. It makes me feel like a scientist. I recommend trying them out if you need some cheap skincare that works! Once I'm done breastfeeding I can't wait to try some retinol to help with my skin looking older!
